Restaurant Reviews Chicago- Turquoise Cafe

A good spot in Roscoe Village with a laid back Mediterranean cafe feel to it is Turquoise Cafe. This place is a neighborhood favorite based on how quickly it filled up by the dinner rush hours.

The atmosphere is my one of favorite types of atmospheres- small, intimate, low lighting, white table, clothes, framed art on the wall, large selection of wine and champagne stocked behind the bar, and lots of full tables with happy people talking and laughing. It already got two points by the time I walked up the hosts booth. Most of the waitstaff is Turkish which makes it very authentic. It has a nice Euro/ Mediterranean vibe about it. On to the food.

They menu is mainly focused on Turkish dishes but there are some Italian and Greek dishes on there also. It has a very nice selection of Mediterranean fare.

Warm, crusty house-baked bread and smooth hummus are a few of the lures at this Roscoe Village gem. It’s tempting to feast solely on appetizers like lahmacun, a ground beefdotted Turkish take on pizza; sogurme, a smoked eggplant, yogurt, garlic, and walnut dip; delicate zucchini pancakes; and, blanketed in tomato and chili oil, amazingly tender grilled calamari.

But wonderful entrées, like adroitly marinated beef tenderloin kebaps (Turkish kebabs) or chopped lamb enfolded in flatbread (beyti kebap) and paired with delectable skinny french fries, also beckon. Rich osso buco, baby eggplant stuffed with veggies and pine nuts, and sea bass encased in a salt crust and cracked open tableside offer plenty of appeal, too. Finish with some Turkish coffee and kazandibi, a pairing of flanlike custard and vanilla ice cream makes for a very pleasant meal.

The deserts are great as well and it is favorite spot in Roscoe Village. This is a great neighborhood spot for some good Turkish food in a nice dining atmosphere in a great area.

A great place to go in Roscoe Village for laid back Mediterranean food is Turquoise Cafe. This place is a neighborhood favorite based on how quickly it filled up by the dinner rush hours. Find more Chicago restaurant reviews
