Com Nieu Sai Gon Restaurant Review

Of the many Asian countries rich in culture and history, Vietnam is one of the more popular ones, often making its way up to many lists of places to travel to. This is especially true for Saigon. Made famous because of the Vietnam war, Saigon (now known as Ho Chi Minh) is one of the great stops in Asia. Apart from the museums which preserve the remnants of Vietnamese history and the war, it is also an excellent place to shop for a variety of products. For example, did you know that some of the best winter gear in the world is found in Saigon? It’s because of the time the French occupied the country, the locals learned how to work with fur and leather, and to this day they produce coats and boots of excellent quality. Saigon is also known for it’s coffee and bread. Again, both are remnants of the time the French occupied the country.

Shopping, sight seeing, and surprising finds aside, however, Saigon is also a place known for its amazing food. One restaurant in particular, has captured the hearts and taste buds of many across the world. Perhaps it is because it was featured as Anthony Bourdain’s favorite restaurant, but all those who have tried the food at Com Nieu Sai Gon all agree that the place is well known for its excellent traditional Vietnamese cuisine.

The price range at Com Nieu Sai Gon is extremely reasonable. A meal for three can cost just ! Don’t think that it is a rinky dink place, however. The restaurant is very clean and has a modern design. It is fully air conditioned, has comfortable chairs, and a good selection of beverages. Why is it so cheap? It’s because food is very cheap in Saigon.

Com Nieu Sai Gon specializes in clay pot cooking, which is the traditional Vietnamese way of cooking. They are also famous for their rice tossing show. What happens is one waiter stands on one end and breaks a clay pot holding the rice. He then tosses the rice (which has a crust, because it was cooked in a clay pot) across the room and another waiter catches it with a plate and tosses it a few times in the air before serving it to dinner guests. Apart from the rice show, the restaurant is known for its soups, clams, spring rolls, and roasted poultry. Almost everything you order at this restaurant is a culinary delight, so you really can’t go wrong.

If you can’t take a vacation to another country, why not try some of the country’s log cabin resorts? It’s a great way to see other parts of the country and small log homes always make cozy vacation spots!
